Simulation based programs have a broad range of applications, from building deep alignment to developing execution capability. The more customized the program is to your specific challenges, the more likely participants will be able to bridge learning to action, leading to execution and results. Standard or off-the-shelf simulations can also be tailored for similar impact.
Program Development & Implementation Process
Customizing the BTS Program to meet a client’s needs requires two to three months, including six to 10 interviews, Concept Design, Concept Test, Quality Testing, and Pilot Workshop.
1. Interviews
BTS works closely with management to develop a program consistent with the company’s strategic goals and objectives. While face-to-face meetings are strongly recommended, we can also conduct one-hour interviews by phone or email with the executive team and other key leaders. These take place over a two-week span.
2. Impact Map & Concept Design
Information gathered during interviews jump-starts the development of an Impact Map, which links learning objectives to organizational goals. The Impact Map, in turn, provides the basis for the program design. The design will lay out a detailed description of the various program components and their contributions. Development of the Concept Design takes approximately one week from completion of the interviews. BTS will present the Concept Design to a steering committee of four to six managers in a half-day meeting.
3. Program Development
Once BTS makes design revisions and the client approves the Concept Design, the development of the program and its components requires approximately four to seven weeks. During this time, extensive testing ensures the highest program quality.

4. Concept Test
An important milestone in customized development is the presentation, to the steering committee, of the various program components (80-90% complete) of the Concept. This half-day meeting will gather additional feedback on the program and its content, so that program development may proceed to completion.
5. Quality Testing
Based on feedback from the Concept Test, BTS will complete the program development. This two- to three-week step includes extensive testing in preparation for the Pilot Workshop.
6. Pilot Workshop
BTS often recommends that a Pilot Workshop is conducted in advance of program deployment, to ensure the soundness of the program from both conceptual and operational perspectives. The Pilot Workshop is positioned as a general availability launch session and is not included in the customization fee. During the two- or three-day Pilot Workshop, BTS consultants periodically poll participants for their input. A list of suggestions and modifications is compiled, to be implemented during and shortly after the program.
7. General Availability
After the Pilot Workshop, one to two weeks are generally required to implement all necessary revisions. Then, the program is ready for general availability and deployment to its target audience.
